PRESS: Antitrust looks into Crimean operator’s high roaming tariffs

MOSCOW, Apr 4 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has started investigating Crimean operator K-Telecom’s excessive tariffs in roaming, which is still active in Crimea and the city of Sevastopol for clients of the country’s other operators, business daily Kommersant reported on Tuesday.

A representative of the antitrust service told the daily the authority had opened an antimonopoly case against K-Telecom, which works under brand Win mobile, for unjustifiably high prices of roaming inside the country, mainly Crimean and Sevastopol where national roaming is active now.

“The weighted average tariffs set by the Crimean company were above the cost of production of services of inter-operator roaming interaction,” the representative said, adding that it hurts the interests of the connection operators that do not have own networks in Crimea and Sevastopol and their subscribers.

Telecom market representatives told the daily that the first complaint about K-Telecom was filed by operators MegaFon and VimpelCom in August 2022.

MegaFon told the daily that the final price of connection for subscribers in roaming depends on the tariffs of roaming partners.
